Paola Arlotta, Golub Family Professor and Chair of the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology, is one of the 100 new members elected to the National Academy of Medicine this year. Election to the academy is one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine. The newly elected members bring the academy’s membership to more than 2,400, which includes nearly 200 international members.
Arlotta was recognized for pioneering work on the development and application of powerful stem cell-based models of the human brain, brain organoids, and for her foundational contributions to understanding processes of human brain formation and human neurological disease.
