Marlies Rossmann, M.D., Ph.D.
Marlies Rossmann, M.D., Ph.D., is a member of the Zon Lab. Marlies studied medicine in Berlin, Germany. After her medical residency in Neurology and Internal Medicine she came to the US for her Ph.D. thesis with Bruce Stillman at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory where she discovered a novel connection between epigenetic silencing mechanisms and nucleotide metabolism through a genetic screen in budding yeast. She then switched from doing screens in yeast to screens in zebrafish by joining Len Zon’s lab at Harvard University.
Sahar Tavakoli, Ph.D.
Sahar Tavakoli, Ph.D., is a member of the Wagers Lab and the Zon Lab. Sahar completed her Ph.D. in Biological Science at the University of Singapore. She joined HSCRB as part of the Wagers and Zon Labs in 2015 to study stem cell transplantation as a potentially curative strategy for genetic disorders of skeletal muscle. This approach is limited due to the deleterious effects of cell expansion in vitro and consequent poor engraftment efficiency.
