Mike Finklea is the operations Coordinator, overseeing critical operational and administrative functions within the department. Mike has been with the university for nearly 40 years and has been with the department since its inception in 2008. Mike is responsible for coordinating operational and logistical processes, including:
Administration – help maintain a comprehensive database for all SCRB admin and academic appointments, provide administrative support for HSCRB activities, meetings, and events including providing catering.
Technology and facilities – oversee department phone systems including submitting phone requests and maintaining phone spreadsheet for department; oversee department multi-function copiers including managing access, stocking supplies, and training new employees; oversee HSCRB espresso machine including handling all maintenance and repair issues; oversee room requests for Fairchild and Bauer conference rooms, provide weekly schedules to be displayed outside each conference room, and assist with / troubleshoot setting up A/V needs in the room.
Finance – prepare weekly PCard settlement reports; assist in processing corporate card payments; support financial operations team as needed; create payment authorizations and process reimbursement for admin group purchases/expenses and liaise with vendors to resolve financial issued; process payment for temps.
Lab – assists the Director of Laboratories with certain Laboratory Operations tasks including annual re-certifications of equipment inventory surveys, and coordinates repairs for lab department shared equipment under warranty.
