Mariale Vicent Allende

Williams College, BA (Biology)

I am a PhD candidate in the Program in Neuroscience (PiN) as part of my MD-PhD training in the Health Sciences and Technology program at Harvard Medical School. I joined the Macklis Lab in the fall of 2021. Previously, I received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Williams College, where I studied the physiology and central regulation of daily torpor in mice. I am fascinated by the nervous system, and I am particularly interested in the relationship between developmental and regenerative processes. Currently, I am investigating the development of corticospinal projection neurons as well as their regeneration after spinal cord injury at the molecular level.

Outside of lab I enjoy dancing, mostly modern, ballet, salsa, and merengue. I also enjoy reading good novels and cooking Venezuelan food.
