Joseph Vaughan is the Assistant Director of Laboratories, responsible for the day-to-day departmental and operational procedures for our labs, core facilities, and vivariums. This includes animal experimental protocols (IACUC), microbiological safety (COMS), laboratory safety, chemical and radiation use, and controlled substances. Joseph has decades of research and management experience primarily in carcinogenesis, molecular genetics, mammalian development and small animal surgery. At the start of HSCRB, he transitioned to Administration and Research Compliance later adding Research and Laboratory Operations to his portfolio. His primary responsibility is for the day-to-day departmental and operational procedures for our 24 laboratories, 5 core facilities and 3 vivariums, including animal experimental protocols (IACUC), microbiological safety (COMS), laboratory safety, chemical and radiation use, and controlled substances. With his expertise in animal research and policy, he oversees the Animal portion of Research Compliance and Policy in collaboration with the entire Research Compliance team.
