Jeff is interested in deciphering the molecular communication between neurons and the non-neuronal glial cells of the developing central nervous system. As a postdoc, Jeff is focused on understanding microglia-neuron interactions that build the cerebral cortex and pattern the transcriptional identity of each other. This work builds upon his graduate work where he uncovered the astrocyte-mediated molecular mechanisms that control synapse development and maturation.
