I am a first year MD-PhD (MS1) student in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program and interested in neuroregeneration research and hope to work clinically with patients recovering from neural injuries. As an undergraduate at Penn, I worked with Dr. Kacy Cullen on neural tissue engineering with the goal of developing tissue engineered constructs with the goal of recreating the lost cytoarchitecture and signaling due to neurodegeneration or neural injury. As a Master’s student in Galway, I worked with Dr. Abhay Pandit to develop an in vitro model to study inflammation associated molecular expression patterns at acute and chronic phases of spinal cord injury. I will continue pursuing her research interests of neuroregeneration in the Macklis lab, by directly and comprehensively investigating growth cone molecular machinery of growth and regeneration following spinal cord injury.
