Advising

Richard Light’s book Making The Most Of College highlights important points to ponder for undergraduate education. Two are particularly noteworthy: First, the majority of students polled say that moments that changed them in a profound way occurred outside of the classroom. Second, students feel that solid, more personalized advising is the single most underestimated feature of a great college experience.

Toward this end, HSCRB offers undergraduate students advising opportunities throughout their undergraduate years. Dr. Bill Anderson, who serves as the advisor for HDRB, is available to discuss a variety of concerns, including:

• Course selection
• Concentration requirements
• Finding a laboratory
• Undergraduate research funding
• Issues arising outside of formal academics

To schedule an appointment to meet with Dr. Anderson, please email Lisa Fountain (Program Coordinator for HDRB) at lisa_fountain@harvard.edu or call her at 617-495-4106.
