Abstract

Translating basic research findings into therapeutic settings presents many scientific, logistic, and financial challenges for academic researchers. Here, I highlight some key insights for navigating such challenges based on recent clinical trials initiated by basic research from my lab.

The Zon laboratory aims to dissect how assaults to the hematopoietic system cause severe diseases such as leukemias, lymphomas, and anemias. They investigate hematopoietic development and disease using chemical screens, genetic screens, and analysis of novel transgenic lines in zebrafish.
